The Executive Office is led by the Executive Director, Professor Michel Goldman, who is responsible for the day-to-day management of the Innovative Medicines Initiative.

The Executive Office executes the decisions of the Governing Board and responds to information requests both from the Governing Board and the Scientific Committee. The activities of the Executive Office include:

• organising the yearly Calls for proposals and the selection of the research consortia that will receive IMI funding,
• managing the public and private funding and
• organising the communication regarding IMI.
